This years World Water Day is being held on 22nd March. The day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water and is about discussing action to effect change.
It is also a day to look at our own water consumption and how we can make a difference to the sustainability of the planet.
Surprisingly, in the Anglian Water region, we receive less rainfall than in Barcelona! This means that by using less water in our homes today, we will ensure we have enough water for future generations, and more water will be left in rivers for wildlife to thrive.
There are lots of ways we can make an impact in our households, including purchasing a water butt.
Water butts sit in your garden and collect and hold rainwater, ready for you to use in the dry summer months to water your garden. They come in all shapes and sizes, so there is bound to be one to suit your space.
There is the Mini Rainsaver 100 Litre Water Butt Kit which is ideal for smaller gardens where space may be limited, or the Rainwater Terrace 2 Tier Water Butt which is a new concept enabling you to collect rainwater and ‘grow your own’ plants in one unit. If you want something more decorative there is the Garantia Antique Amphora Water Butt and Planter.
